A is APRON ….

Here’s an A for the road. Since the ABC along changes to B tomorrow.. but you know I got a sewing machine for my birthday and I tried a few things here and there.. fought with that bobbin and cursed at it. But eventually… after many of errors, this is what I made.

hollys apron

I sewed up a reversible apron and for my first go of pretty much ANYTHING other than a pillowcase…a fun little denim/cotton print reversible with a fancy little pocket.
I sent Holly a themed birthday gift this year. She’s a busy mom of two who works full time and long awkward hours. So, together we thought she needs to implement the miracle of THE CROCK POT. Along with the apron, she got a cookbook and a recipe organizer. I’m sure she thought she was going to get something hand knit..not this year. So…. thats my hot off the new singer to start off 08. I have a few others things in mind, but man.. that bobbin thread wants to make me drink. (even more!)

So.. who’s watching the football game tomorrow. GO PATRIOTS!

Holiday Cheer

A little something to kill the time… starring my little family and my sister in law & brother in law. Who knew we were all so fantastic at acting! And.. I stole this idea from Kathryn.. to give credit where credits due!

Don’t send a lame Holiday eCard. Try JibJab Sendables!

last night… I came home to “the box” at my front door. WHOOOHOOO! now.. what do i do with it? hmmmm. i guess for the first EVER in my life, I’ll read the instruction manual and see what all the little doodads do – because I haven’t a clue. i’m very excited though.. I do have my first request for a project.. my BFF wants to me to learn how to rip out all her waistbands and replace them with elastic. yeah. she’s hot like that. ~snort~ funny.

today. i was able to get out (with daughter in tow) and get ONE present. lets she if she’s able to keep the secret. it’s for her brother, from my parents, but still … she is my daughter after all. here’s hoping. toys r us was stupid crazy.. i’m like.. HEY DONT YOU PEOPLE WORK? I was hoping to have it a little bit more quiet, and just time to peruse the aisles..but nooooo… dumdums crowding the lego aisle like nobody’s business. yeah yeah.. tis the season.

what is it? 26 days til we have to have our presents bought & not mention wrapped!? pressure. i love it… i think it’s when I do my finest work. too bad I don’t have mad sewing skillz .. i’d whip up everyone a matchy matchy Chistmas shirt.. damn. too bad.

I did a little swap from Crafty Daisy’s..and it was an easy one.. just a bookmark. 008 1 2 3
All it was going to cost you was your time, your energy and a stamp. Mine came a day or two ago and I love it… the more i look at it.. I get more detail from it. So thanks Jessica!!

WIP!

You know what? Time flies when your playing Guitar Hero! I’ve made it up to the “medium” level and I’ve conquered my challenge with Slash. It’s a very competitve household and Mr. Knitpho has yet to beat Slash, needless to say… he’s a little touchy about it. HA! Girls Rule Boys Drool. So, in between my gigs, I’ve got some knitting done. Seeeeee?

I still have a couple of inches to go before I divide up into 5 parts. front left/sleeve 1/back/sleeve 2/front fight. I’m quite please with it so far and it is super easy.. SO FAR. It’s just back and forth… back and forth which is nice to just sit and knit and not have to think about the increases. Even thought that wasn’t difficult.. I had to pay attention.. and I don’t pay attention well. Then once Guitar Hero entered our household… that’s seems to be taking up a chunk of evenings.

AND.. I’m reading. My BFF and I decided that we’d read the same book, our own little book club of sorts. We I picked Water For Elephants..and we started to read… she finished in just days. I’m only half way through! There are just not enough hours in the day to do it all. But.. the book is wonderful and I’m excited to finish it… maybe today. Tomorrow the boy is out of school so maybe we’ll go see the Bee Movie.. anyone see it yet?

Off to read.. or knit… or rock out.. I can’t decide. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

baseball & knitting & more coffee please

Oh it was an dominated game last night at Fenway Park.  Those poor souls in Colorado still don’t know what hit them.   Whilst the Red Sox were scoring run after run after…and I was texting my BFF and her hubby in Denver… (yes the wagers have been placed!) I called my parents and thought they’d be in bed ..but they were just sulking and trying to trash talk for tonights game.  Good try, mom.  So – I knitted … like the wonder woman I am!  I’d love to show you.. but it’s being gifted.   Now, if you know anything about me.. I love to give surprises and make it  special.. without giving anything away… BUT, if you try to do this to me in return.. I may have a small breakdown.   I DO NOT like the reverse of it.. at all!

We have game 2 tonite.. we’ll see how much more I can actually do… or the momentum wears off through out the day.  Since we’re going to be stuck inside the confines of our four walls.. with a snotty nosed girl with a lovely hacking cough.   Don’t be jealous.. she’s all mine.

Now.. where did I put that IV for my coffee drip ?

all IVed up and ready to party

Monday… again!

What a wonderful weekend for our little girl.  She had a fabulous birthday of shopping ..lunching .. and eating ice cream cake and pure celebration of turning 3!  Thanks for all your birthday wishes for her!!   Does it get any better?  As Monday rolled around, Mr. Knitpho enjoyed his weekend ending his week long vacation.  We watched baseball and football … and we’ll watch more baseball this week.  It’ a big week for the Red Sox.. and what makes it so much more fun, that that Rockies & the D’Backs all have chance.. all my families fave teams.. so everyone has major baseball fever.

So after a weekend of celebrating and the recouperating.. (ugh!) .. I started a new knitting project.  I have this yummy YARNPIRATE yarn… “CALAMITY” and it’s super soft and just oooh so cozy.

this is the second go around of the Broadripple sock.  I started one and made fast progress since they were on 3’s.. which seemed HUGE after working on those 1’s the last time.. but alas.. 3’s were too big and I had to frog and move down a notch to 2’s.  I’m happy with the gauge on 2’s.. and these socks should move quickly since it’s a two row pattern repeat.

My head is full of lists of things I want to make for that holiday that sneaks up on us every year in December.  However, I will have to pick and choose, because I can’t do it all, I’ve tried.

This lady HAS to get back to the gym.. two weeks off!  EEK.. so I am going to put my knitting away — get my butt in gear and head out before I crawl back under the covers where it’s cozy warm.

Enjoy the start of your week…

This is Sheldon the turtle...pattern found here!   I started this turtle on Saturday –  became slightly obsessed and finished it this morning, during my weekly craftiness, coffee & cake session.   No embroidery today, it was all about putting this little guy together, and let me tell you.. I am in love.  I have to cast on another one (in pink) right away.. for the girly.

I have tragic news that just happened this morning in the household… are you ready?  my TIVO died.  DIED! I know… I know… I’m just sick to my stomach and can’t fathom not having TIVO.  I can’t even talk about it …   must. go. cry. now.

not now, mama is knitting!

Fall in New England.. it is wonderful — even with the temps in the 80’s! Our weekend brought not a lot of time together as a family — we all seemed to have our own agendas and obligations. Everyone just wanted to relax and not be rushed to do much. Ofcourse the Patriots were on yesterday…and the Red Sox..but we don’t talk about sports! So I knitted! Like a madwoman!

Friday night it didn’t start off good. I am in the midst of making a pair of legwarmers..and for the life of me was unable to connect to knit in the round. So I chucked it across the room and yelled I AM NEVER KNITTING AGAIN! S just pointed, laughed then rolled his eyes and he’s heard this cry of frustration before. I took a deep breath, poured a glass of wine and whammo-bammo…

I have a hefty number of a goal to make of these little guys..and they take under two hours.. so.. I should have enough by Christmas! Unless I burnout, which is more than possible!

Then.. Saturday I started on one thing that I worked on most of the day Saturday. The knitting stayed out so I could just sit and start whenever time allowed. I stayed up late, I was a woman on a mission. Same with yesterday. Most of my morning..a break for soccer in the afternoon and back to more knitting while we watch my boyfriend Tom Brady. This is what I have thus far..

That’s all I’m showing you for now.. I’m sure a chunk of you know what I’m going for here, but you’ll see the finale hopefully later today or first thing in the morning, since it is Monday after all, and my to do list is a mile long. (as she sits here and moves really slow, as not to start her day!)

I knitted this mini up last night — why?  to see if I could..and I can!  It’s the precious little pattern in the  Last Minute Knitted Gifts book..and I just thought this & the sock were adorable.  It’s the perfect thing for all that left over sock yarn!

Today is another fun filled morning of embroidery, morning snacks & coffee.  We’ll see what mad skillz I come up with this morning!

Stuck in my brain!

OMG!  Do you not hate when you get a song stuck in your head and it just won’t leave … for a really long time!  Last week the song stuck in my head was “the heat will rock you.. the heaaatt will roll you…” you know.. by Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights!?  Ahhk! Finally, it moved on.. left.. adios!  But then.. now what’s stuck in the ol’ noggin’!?

and! I’m NOTeven into McNuggets YO!

In other exciting news that you just want to know.. I did some stitchin over the weekend!   I practiced my embroidery from the practice sheet from the book and I fell in love with the chain stitch.  Below.. in the photo you will see on your very left how it started out pretty wonky, and by the end, I was really good… I mean super!  I just main chain stitch everything!

001 1 2 3

I practiced the lazy daisy..and the seed stitch, and the stars .. I had some serious issues with the satin stitch.. so, that fer shur needs practice.  But.. IF you want to take up embroidery and don’t have a clue, like me.  That Sublime Stitching book is the perfect thing!    And then.. see that mini ballband over to your right?  Well, talk about cute and quick.  I saw on Ravelry and the MDK addicts, that they were doing Mini’s..for like counter wipe downs.. you know stuff like that.  Well. I thought I’d whip one up to see what all the talk was really about.  Well.. I am using it as a little coaster for my kitchen table.. it’s in pink and a lt. brown..but.. it took maybe an hour and I think I like them more than the normal size.

It was a beautiful fall New England weekend.  Soccer in the rain.. which wasn’t too terrible and naps in the afternoon.  The WHOLE family.. that’s a rare treat!   Now to start another week … and see where my needles will take me next!
