Christmas (knitting) in July

There is a woman I know, who had a crazy cool idea. She says to us, us being all the knittah’s in our groupy group.. she says.. “hey ladies, you wanna do a mitten swap for Christmas?” We all jumped up and down and shouted YES! YES WE DO! .. So she pressed on and said she’d mix us all up and we’d all get a name and we’d knit mittens for that knitter… but I can’t tell you who I got, because it’s a secret. UNTIL FREAKING CHRISTMAS!

So, we all gathered around and she handed us our secret person whom we will be creating beautiful mittens for. Not only did she think of, organize a google doc for all our faves, colors, yarns, etc.. she made us all project bags with top secret envelopes and goodies inside. I know what your thinking. How could we be so lucky to have an awesome gal like this in our group. Well, we just are. She’s ALL OURS! Mwawaahhhahhahha.

So, because I am getting ready to head for the hills.. I mean ROCKY MOUNTAINS in just a few short days, so I wouldn’t get sidetracked with mitten knittin’.. it took me a good long while to decide on what I would knit my recipient, and WHAT I would knit it with. Once decided, I had the yarn sent to Colorado and will start my project there.. in the backyard at my parents.. while the cool mountain breeze blowing through my locks and the warm Colorado sun browning my skin, while my daddy mixes Mojitos.

Oh and while Im there, I’ll see my BFF Holly and all my other friends from DHS Class of 89 for my (gasp) 20 year high school reunion. HOLY SHIT.. 20 years.

weekend wrap up

It was another kick ass weekend for Mrs Knitpho. I can’t tell you how lucky I am and how grateful I am as well. Friday night couldn’t have came quick enough, I was exhausted from a busy day of chauffeuring my beloved M’s around… I was the lucky mom who got to a an end of the year preschool party and was sadly depressed when I walked in the doors and realized that EEPS… NO BOOZE. ::sigh:: I managed to keep myself in check for over 3hours with 4 & 5 year olds and other moms and inside no less because of the rain… major drag. Finally, thankful for GPS finder mappy thing on my phone I found my way home otherwise I’d still be out there.. seriously. Then a nice dinner and sending the husbeast off to train (he’s a triathlete you know!) and thankful for raspberry vodka & limeade – always thankful for that.

Saturday.. a “quick” run and then watching it rain like a bitch all day long. I mean RAIN… sheets, buckets, downpour kind of rain. Then me & my peeps were off to a party at my friend Erins house, good food, good beer, good friends – and the husband stayed behind with the kiddies .. what more could a girl ask for? Girl time, it’s what ever mom needs to make it through …. life.

Today.. I went to lunch with a dear friend to celebrate our birthdays and have girl talk. We go to lunch at a local yummy Italian restaurant and WTF.. no lunch menu on Sundays? $20 for a hunk of lasagna? $12 for Bruschetta… we sat down, and stared at the dinner prices and dinner menu for a 1p lunch.. we were so rebellious, we got up and left. I’m so sure, we’re all about good food and lovely atmosphere, but serving dinner only on a Sunday VIA? Your STOOOOPID!
So, we found another yummy restaurant and had LUNCH at LUNCHTIME and then of course hit Starbucks.

Mr Knitpho got a great ride in and avoided the rain and I watched a bunch of gross but funny boys practically kill each other. Hula hooped, jumped rope, colored with sidewalk chalk and laughed til I cried with my Mia.

As Sunday comes to end, and True Blood is about to come on, the wine is about to be poured and the kids will be put to bed.

I am thankful for a fantastic family, amazing friends and a great first weekend of summer.

I SPY

It’s that time of night that we all love. The kids are in bed. The Biggest Loser is on TV, my wine glass is full and my knitting is at my side. I am ready to plunk myself down and enjoy the night.
But wait? Where is my other needle.
I get up, look in between the couch cushions. Nothing.
I look underneath the couch. Nothing.
I walk all over the house, retrace my steps. Nothing.

WHERE DID MY #9 NEEDLE GO!

51 minutes pass of looking ever where.

I even checked my hair to see if I stuck up in my ponytail. Nope, not there either.
I think my kids have hidden it to drive me bananas.

This is the view of where I’m sitting:

Im on the floor .. because.. well I just am ok. I look to the left

Out of the corner of my eye… I see it!

THERE YOU ARE! The darn #9 was indeed hiding. It was trying to run away .. what a little bugger! Not for long..
I see you! You can hide, but you cannot get away from me… I’m tooooooo smart!

Can you even believe it. I think it is soooo funny that I was looking every where for that thing.. and it was indeed in a very good hiding place. I don’t even know how I spotted it, I thought it was some sort of reflection..but at 851pm?

Ofcourse, I had to capture all the craziness for you .. does that mean I need to get a life?

FUNNY STUFF here at Chez Knitpho!! Now that I have both my needles.. I’m off to knit!

oh no! another time suck

As I sit here and update my blog, who is only somewhat neglected because I feel a bit redundant telling you all the same things that I’m sure I’ve blabbed about via status updates on Facebook, or I’ve been out having coffee or beers with you and you heard my lame ass stories.. or your a plurker and you listen to be go on and on about my mindless jibber jabber.

But then, Mr. Knitpho decided that he’d start a Twitter account (trifatlete)and he was really getting a kick out of some of the peeps he was following, and it was interesting to hear. But what do I care about that? I have facebook! I have plurk. I have gmail and gmail chat with a webcam! But, curiosity got the best of me, and I signed up for Twitter,(mrsknitpho) (and I can Twitter from my lame ass phone. (my husband is laughing right now at me and my phone, i was stoopid and didn’t want to upgrade when I had the chance, I said I’d wait til our contract was up and then get a new phone, but REGRET!) Anyway – so.. I’m all a twitter with twitter. Do you twitter? Do you Facebook? There are so many outlets out there to let the world know what the hell we are up to every freaking second of the day!! Whats your fave?

So now it’s time to peel my arse off my couch and get some shit done.

ohhhhhhh. updated Tweets. The dishes will have to wait.

My boy and me are going to brave the ice storm to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Should be pretty awesome.

is it Friday yet?

My life is a wee bit empty and lonely since I finished Breaking Dawn. I thought I’d snap out of it when I finished the book on Wednesday – alas no. Edward.. oh Edward. Excitedly and (im) patiently I wait until Friday until we go and see Twilight the movie. As I sit and type. the trailer just came on the TV and i STOPPED EVERYTHING to watch..and Mr. Knitpho called me a dumbass. He’s so jealous of the dazzling vampire.
So, that’s where I have been … obsessing, daydreaming and loving all things Vamp.
If you haven’t read them yet, I suggest you GET ON IT … you’ll thank me. Just ask my crew.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Wow.. it’s the end of October already? Was I just not cruising around with the sunroof open and deep dark tan lines? I am sad to see summer go but I will welcome the rest of fall and winter, but not with open arms. Today!! Today is Halloween. Are you skeeeeered? Yesterday, I packed up my kids in all their costumed glory and we headed to a local cemetery – why? this is why …

mmmm. brains.

… now wouldn’t you much rather see a doctor turned zombie in a graveyard more than you would like to see it on my front porch or my living room? Miles got really into it, and this is just a cemetery we pass every day – what I really wanted to do was go to a so called ‘haunted cemetery’ and I will.. tomorrow.. by myself and see if I will be welcomed with open arms to the 8th Gate of Hell. (one of the rumors of the graveyard!) Then … there is Mia. Mia has two costumes this year … for her school party they were all story book characters to avoid weapons and scary thing.. I mean gheez! they are 3 and 4 years old after all! :) So.. here she is..

Mia Ballerina

I had been working on the tutu and made that out of 3 yards of toole and then on Wednesday .. I ‘whipped’ up the ears and the tail and voila … we have Angelina Ballerina. She looked so stinking cute – and I have to pat myself on the back for making it happen. I love that she wasn’t a princess like all the other girls … and it wasn’t store bought!! Plus it makes it special for her to, that I took the time to do this special for her :)

but.. then there is this Mia too. The girl has many sides to her personality. She went from oh so chipper ballerina to a true little witch!!!

witch-ay woman

This picture CRACKS me up. It captures her mood at the end of a long day and annoyed with her mommy forcing to do such silly stunts. Her Auntie Holly summed it up the best by she looks like she’s saying… “I sweep and I sweep..and the damn leaves just keeping blowing!”

So, I will drop off the kids for their day at school and I am off to find this cemetery that has me oh so intrigued and I hope to capture some fantastic photographs and maybe meet a ghost. Then, it’s a night full of Trick or Treating and eating candy til I can’t eats no more!

Have a spooooooooky Halloween and if you don’t hear from me ever again.. .the 8th Gate has opened and welcomed me home.

one in the sink.

Another weekend came and went. Busy busy busy.

Mia had her halloween themed ballet dance recital and she was just amazing. She got all the steps right and was just a shining star! That same day my boy was channeling Michael Phelps and swam like a total rockstar! Lap after lap… totaling about 350yards in 40minutes.. wow, right? I was beaming with pride, just when you think you can’t take motherhood any more and want to run away, really fast .. screaming.. the insanity settles and they just blow your mind…
… come to think of it, the weekend just got better and better. Story time morning out with a fab lady and her little princess! Halloween parties! BAMFK drinkfest/foodfest/laughfest! Mr K’s did a duathlon and then a Sunday afternoon of naps, food and tv.
I will have to play some major housework catch up tomorrow … as I didn’t do anything all weekend. WHOOPS. and I have to work out. my exercise regime has taken a hard hit this last month and I haven’t reached any of my monthly goals.. I better mentally whip myself into shape.. because as of late, I can’t stand me.

… i’ll have to take a picture of my current knitty project … the yarn is just outstanding.

Have a great monday bloggyland .. and a great last week of October!

and i just read what I wrote… and damn … I don’t blame you for not reading the whole thing. What the …?
