Category : another day

I miss writing.
I missing sharing my knitting & shenanigans with you.
So, it’s time to revamp the look of the blog and get it back up and running.
Hopefully over the next day or so and I’ll have some visitors!
Do you see what's happening here? She's reading. To me. Green Eggs & Ham. To me. Twice. We could see it coming, we can see her right on the cusp of it all clicking and the words just jumping off the page to her. Today, she made a huge leap. Pretty awesome.

Because two is better than one.. the day just kept getting better. My boy came home with a stellar reportcard of A’s and a dotted with a few B’s. GO BOY GO!
Just yesterday when the girl gave me a run for my money and pushed all those buttons, I told myself today would be better. It HAD to be better. ANYTHING would have been better than Monday. Damn, was it ever!
here we go again. radio silence here at chez knitpho. it’s not that i have been swamped with loads of stuff, again.. your just getting all my goings on over at all the other internet outlets that I love to hate and hate to love.
so what’s been going on with you? fill me in … even though I’ve read your status updates and or tweets.. so I do know whats going. I still read blogs and love to see what my friends near & far are up to.. so I thought I’d give the ‘ol blog a good old fashioned updated. so here’s whats be going on.
Running. Well, this last week I was down & out. I tweaked my back, with a muscle spasm or a pinched nerve and holy shit did it hurt. I could feel it getting worse and then from being so tense and hunched over – my wSohole body just tensed up and after a week, I’m finally almost 100%. It’s hard not to exercise – I mean when you want to and can’t is one thing, but to not go because your lazy is entirely different. I have a 5k in the middle of May, so I have some ground to make up as I am going for a speedier time. Speaking of races… the mister and my boy ran a 5k this past week ( day 1 of pure back torture) and this race was all about Miles and Sandy was just running with him and supporting our son the whole way. Miles ran in 30:14 and holy cow.. he’s awesome. They both are!

Mia ran too … it didn’t go as well. She started out strong, a quick trip and she was done for the day.

NEXT! KNITTING! ….
i knitted this Jane Austren dress from the new mason dixon book.. details on my Rav … she wore it for Easter and it was just the cutest thing ever. The pattern is a wee bit wonky and the fit didn’t go all that right. .but it looks great.

Mia picked out the deep pink print and we seamed up, added a hem and then hand stitched it to the knitted body.
It’s finally warming up here in the great Northeast, so she’ll be able to get some more use out of it.
I am in the midst of a KAL with 4 friends. We’re all knitting the same sweater for all our girlies. from size wee little baby size to Mia being the oldest. Pics soon.. I hope anyway.
So.. that’s the excitment around here- can you see WHY I haven’t updated. Back is finally on the mend and i am at 98% so I hope to start running again this week.. and with the warm temps – I can’t wait to get out there!!!!
Hope all is well with you blogland… hopefully there will be more to blog about since the sunny weather appeared and Im out of my winter blues funk.
well.. here i am again. ignoring el bloggo. lets see, we’ve had a lot going on since we’ve last been in touch. Let’s see… last Thursday .. the 11th! Miles and I were lucky enough to go the Trans Siberian Orchestra, (see you tube below if you dont know of what I speak of) and let me tell you, it was AWESOME. I have been to concerts .. everything from Jimmy Buffett to Metallica and this show was spectacular. Maybe I appreciated everything a little bit more because I am so more older and so much wiser and just loved watching through the eyes of a 10year old boy fascinated by the super drum solo and laser light show. But that’s when the fun ended. We knew that an ice storm was coming and as long as we made it to/from the show, we would be ok. So – on our way home, almost almost home, I saw a tree kind of flamey and kind of smoking – and then I realized that I power line was loose and had started the tree a flame, and then as soon as I started to dial 911 the line snapped and fell to the wet streets below and ZAP, we felt the surge of electricity and it made our hairs stand on end. I stepped on the gas and zooooooooomed home. As we drove the half mile home, we saw the lights go out in chunks all around us, and it was BLACK outside. We were lucky to have electricity on again by the middle of the night, but than off again after early morning. We were able to survive at home and finally had to mosey to the in-laws for a warm home and some warm food for the kids. Thankfully, we were up and running by 4p. But, some of my poor dear friends are still without.. so send them electricity vibes please

So, the kids have been out of school since Friday! FRIDAY! It is the worst week EVER to be out of school. There are packages to wrap and still buy for that matter. I have been lugging them all over town and they’ve been VERY! good. But I just found out today that they are out for the rest of the week. So, we shall see what I can get done with towing them around town with me.. and Thursday we bake!
Knitting! I have been knitting but your going to have to go check out Bucket and Mrs Beeton on my Rav.. just in case my ‘rents decide to check out el bloggo.
Ok my friends. I hope to come and visit you more through the blog. But with my kids home and me drinking to cope, I dont know how that will be possible. I kid I kid. Hope your enjoying this oh so festive season!
A little heartwarming story, that happened right here in MY house! I had ordered the boy to DO THE DISHES and ofcourse the little helper had to help, as only she knows how. As I set them on their way and worked my way downstairs to ofcourse read my cosmo and eat my bonbons.. I could hear my little M&M’s, working as team.. getting it done. A few minutes later I hear Miles say to Mia, I have 2 things to tell you..(i started to work my way back upstairs, because really, who knew WHAT he might say to her!) and he says – you have to remember them for always. She says .. ok! He tells her.. #1. I am your big brother. I will always be your big brother. I will be there for whenever you need me for whatever you need – that’s what big brothers do. Do you understand? .. she replies, I understand. Thank you Miles. and he says and #2. I love you. I love you just as much as mom & dad love us. I’m proud your my little sister. .. with an I love you too Miles… the conversation was over and they were on their way. I sat at the bottom of my stairs, listening to the two of them laugh together and work together. My eyes all welled up and my heart was beating so fast it was almost hard to breath.
Nothing.. and I mean NOTHING gets better than that. Ever.
The frigid temps have made their way to the great North East. It is BRUTAL! It’s the kind where it takes you a good while to warm up from being outside and just chilllllllz you to the bone. I don’t like it very much, let alone having to run outside in it, which I am being a big huge baby about. I’m getting to old for this weather, maybe it’s time to become a snowbird and wing my west to Arizona… or Hawaii. Anyway -
Things are fine and dandy here at Chez Knitpho – just rolling with it and getting shit done. Knitting..ofcourse. Reading.. yup. Since I finished the Twilight series, and SAW THE MOVIE.. oh what ? You want to hear about the movie? Well, if you haven’t seen it, I suggest you… DO NOT GO SEE THE MOVIE. Unless you want to laugh your ass off, then go. Oh movie people, WHY o WHY did you make a mockery of this fun romantic book… do they not see horrible make up? VERY overacting ..and with special effects what they are today.. COME THE EFF ON.. In the end, it was good and I loved the end.. because it was over – and well, the Robert Pattinson is something to look at. I’m thrilled I got to go with my girlz and my BFF in Denver went at the same time I did, so we called each other the minute it was over and just were in shock together. I had the good fortune of being the in theater with adults..and not screaming teenagers like holly.. poor girl. So.. that’s my movie review. Stick to the books I say!
In the meantime, Thanksgiving week is approaching and it’s a short week for everyone. Good times. Goooood times.
Now, it’s time to get the crew ready and head out into the world of FREEEEZING TUNDRA WIND!
Happy weekend!
well I did give the blog every day in November a go, but come the weekend and I failed. Oh well, I’d rather blog to you about something good going on that just random shit that happens during the day anyway. Today is Veterans Day and someway somehow we all know someone who has served our country, so lets all take a minute to think and thank these people for what they do for us.. k?
In the meantime of this RIVETING post, I thought I’d show you some.. are you ready? KNITTING! I know I know.. settle down. Here we go.
This is the progress on the central park hoodie. I had put it away and made a mess of other things but I work on it now and again and if I could just get these front panels done, that I’d be in the clear with sleeves! Maybe it’ll be a vest.. KIDDING.

the pic is not the best, it was a cloudy day and the light was horrible, but you get the idea. This left front panel is kind of being a thorn in my side. First I realized I knit past where I needed to to start decreasing for the arm whole, so I RIPPED back about 1.5″ and then I re knit and then I realized that I had forgot to cable on part. DAMN. It’s in time out.
Next up.. CLAPOTIS!

again, horrible picture but it has been cloudy and shady and well, I’m not taking another one until it’s finished. I am in love with this. I am on the straight rows and the silk is DIVINE to work with and touch and just giddy.
It’s a day off for the kiddies and who knows where the day will take us. All I know it’s 830 and it’s already NOISY.
…but I’ve learned to tune it out for the most part

ELECTION DAY! This morning… I exercised my right to vote shortly after I dropped off Miss M at school. As I parked my car and worked my way to the voting area, I could feel the energy of the people leaving and the chatter amongst the small groups of people here and there. I walked in and voted. I left – Proud. Excited. Ready for change.
