my ramblings of parenthood …

I was “talking” to one of my girlfriends/mommyfriends this morning and by “talking” I mean emailing..because really.. it is quite impossible to talk on the phone with another girl in the house. I’m an only child, who had a phone in her room and parents who never got calls.. well, I don’t think they got calls, there was no call waiting back in the day. Anyway…(i got sidetracked) She is the proud new owner of this:

so..we know what comes with this little bundle – NO SLEEP. right now, all the moms who are reading this, are cringing a bit at remembering the ridiculous amount of exhaustion that you never thought possible. But, it doesn’t end there.. thats just the beginning, the preparation of what lies ahead. It just really gets your ready for the raw, hard reality of what your future might bring. It might not always be no sleep… picky eaters .. potty training..tantrums.. it’s always ALWAYS something to make you want to run as fast you can and not look back. For me, right now, it’s science project time. I was so excited for this time to work on the project with my boy, and last year he did a super job, this year could only be better. But, what? Wait.. huh? We can’t grow a potato in a jar this year? Grow stalagmites? Oh my stomach hurts, the boy has to INVENT something. I don’t know if you get how hard this actually is. Isn’t everything EFFING invented already? So, this morning as I sit and wait for UPS and drink my coffee.. I can’t help but look around my house for a spark of an idea. NOTHING. for days now… NOTHING. oh we’ve come up with ideas. Like… a better cell phone? Hi? Miles? weren’t you just watching Spongebob on your dads phone? I don’t think we can improve that. A better TV? Hi Miles, meet Tivo! The list goes on and on …beer flavored gum? Ooooo this sounded lovely to his dad who’s not drinking right now and chewing lots O gum…but Auntie Holly told me to tell Miles that beer flavored gum has already been invented. How might you get some? Drink too much. Throw up. Then put a piece of gum in your mouth. Voila.. beer flavored gum. Gross, right? You know you’ve had some though. So, kill me know. Or some pick me up and a bring a bottle of Jack with you so I can drink this stupid invention project away. When is idea due? Tomorrow. Yeah, great.

I feel your pain with the science project. All my creativity and seems to have gone AWOL since I turned 30.

~snort~ I was there last year. What did my darling invent? A pillow shooter. You bud’s baby is adorable! Really, good thing they’re so cute, no?
Can he invent more “time for knitting”…I know, I know lame, but I have nothing girl…NO THING…bottle of Jack sounds good right about now…..I hope Miles comes up with something cool….keep us posted…

hey cute baby!! so how about this..Bill and I are always saying that we wish we had an automatic unlock to our house.. you know like we have for our cars..just press a button and the house is open. Has that been invented??? I don’t know, but if it has I want one! Good luck!
